I lie on my bed at the end of the day,
Letting all my troubles just drain away.
An intimate time I can look forward to
By bidding the world a warm adieu!
I close my eyes and say a short prayer,
Thanking God for all I hold dear.
Into the silence I slowly fall,
Just then a mosquito decides to call!
Its tiny wings create this horrendous sound,
So under the sheets I go, where I can't be found.
This hide and seek I always win,
Till it flies away in a beaten tailspin.
Finally now I can get some sleep.
Maybe even count some white fluffy sheep.
I take a deep breath when I felt a slight tingle
Under these sheets I was baking, medium rare and simple!
I claw my way out as fast as I can.
Struggling like a fish caught by a fisherman.
Then I was out! I was free!
Into the cool air, which began freezing me!
A flash of genius, I could fix this.
Stick a leg out into the room's dark abyss!
The temperature now, was just right.
Now I could fall asleep with all my might.
As I dozed off, I felt something strange.
I needed another sleeping pose, so I might as well change.
My muscles complained at each toss and turn!
Then finally a hit to which I could discern.
At last, I'm not going to move.
All I want is to just catch a snooze.
I close my eyes and let my thoughts swirl.
While these chaotic surreal images slowly unfurl.

The Butterfly Jar
In her hand was a little jar
With a butterfly shaped motif
Small enough to fit in her palm
Large enough to hold her beliefs
And all of the hopes and the dreams
And the harrowing memories
She promised one day to reveal
The contents of the jar to me
Protected by the butterfly
Her secrets remained safe and sound
Each echoing in their own space
As there was no one else around
The winged beauty remained loyal
As the days like clouds floated by
It too was once a caterpillar
That never dreamt it could fly
Now like a butterfly she'll escape
From her chrysalis-like mind
She will shed all of her sorrows
Underneath the silken sunshine

Sinking
Recently I've been sinking
Like a stone into a pond
Having skimmed across the surface
Of life for far too long
Please may I have a new heart
Along with a new mind
I cannot reverse this feeling
No, I'm sorry, not this time
Recently I've been sinking
Into myself like quicksand
No one sees as it swallows me
Each grain a mislaid plan
Please may I crawl inside your love
Mingle hearts until the end
I cannot reverse this feeling
No, I'm sorry, not again
Recently I've been sinking
Such an overused metaphor
But one which is cathartic
When choosing to explore
That I could save you my love
And in time you could save me
As fear and
Literature
Survive
Whispers in my ear
Compel me to surrender.
But I will not hear;
I defy my contender.
Defeat is not an option;
There is no other way:
Survive against all odds
To die another day.
'Tis the oldest battlecry;
The only ultimatum.
Fight until you die
Rather plain verbatim.
To be classified as "alive,"
Survive, survive, survive.

Author's Notes.
We've all had trouble falling asleep, at one time or another. Its really annoying when we find ourselves in that situation, but it's pretty funny when you think about it...

This is cool, I like that it's written as if it were serious, but it's supposed to be funny.
