[A Cure For Writer's Block]

When your pen hits the paper and nothing comes out
With a full cartridge, something's about.
Sitting there lonely staring off into space
You've got Writer's Block mate, it's a terrible case

The symptoms are some of the worse things to *bare
If left untreated, might as well say a prayer.
Diagnosing the problem is the first step to take
So let's get it started before it's too late.

Do you find yourself doing, the things you've put off?
Or watching TV late at night till you cough?
Dusting and cleaning. Hunting for food.
Surfing the net since you've found yourself glued.

Hanging out with friends all night long?
Getting them together for a night on the Town.
Or lying in bed staring off into space
Tossing something up till it hits you in the face.

This list of symptoms can go on and on
Keeping you busy for weeks, whilst mentally withdrawn.
Now on to the cure which you'll see,
It's really quite simple like *growing a tree

To Block means to stop, the ideas from flowing.
Get this barricade off the river to get it going.
It's like starting a fire with a spark and small tinder
Igniting the wood and watching it cinder.

You don't need a topic or deadlines you see
You can't write with stress so have some iced tea.
Start shooting off lines, they don't have to make sense
But keeping them all like spare change in cents.

One thing to note and you can't rush
Inspiration hits at random with a very loud flush.
So there you go, seek thee and create.
It may take time and patience but after all *we can relate.

Writer's Block. We've all faced it. Writers, authors, poets, novelists, columnists etc. All feel it. It's not just limited to them, but to all those who are Artistically Stuck. It's a feeling we dread but here's how to overcome it.

Author's Notes.

A couple people have asked me about line 5.
*bare, line 5, what I have done here is introduce a type of dual meaning as in to expose the feeling of writer's block for the world to see and this word can also be replaced with "bear" as in coping with the difficulty of the writer's block.

*growing a tree, line 20, refers to the length of time and patience needed for a tree to grow as tied with the meaning of line 32

*we, line 32 refers to all Writer's, artists and creators.

I'd really appreciate some feedback! So tell me what you think!

While I can see that so many people can relate (who can't, really? :D), I also like the flow and rhythm of it as well. The rhyme scheme just adds to this, and the comma in line 21 is just brilliant!

Awesome job on this! :iconclapplz:
